Pumping station development program
About project
The project provided funding for the reconstruction and modernization of pumping stations
Related machine channels and irrigation and drainage systems in the Fergana Valley and the Zarafshan River Basin with coverage area of more than 70,000 hectares agricultural lands.
The main objectives of the project:
- Reduction of production costs, in particular electricity costs through the installation of 43 new energy-efficient pumps at 7 pumping stations;
- Improving the efficiency of water management and irrigation by strengthening the capacity of local water users associations, water control structures and reconstruction of gauging stations;
- Increasing soil fertility of agricultural lands by providing water and taking timely technical measures against salinity through the reconstruction and rehabilitation of more than 130 km of irrigation channels and networks;
Preparation of Feasibility Study Reports for the selected 5 (five) sub-projects, i.e. pumping stations.
Description of actual services provided in the assignment:
- Assisting Client in project management;
- Conducting primary research, the selection of potential sub-projects for implementation, and a feasibility study for the reconstruction of pumping stations and irrigation schemes and networks;
- Preparation of tender documents for international competitive bidding;
- Assisting Client in the evaluation of bids and award of contract;
- Technical supervision of construction by FIDIC procedures;
- Training the Client’s personnel in the workplace to the implementation and administration of international turnkey contractor contracts;
- Monitoring of the environment, social and gender aspects of the project;
Preparation of LARP reports and documents and implementation of compensation plan for affected households.
