Strengthening the capacity of stakeholders in the implementation of the GHS through the implementation of GHS seminars and trainings for the further implementation of SAICM in Uzbekistan; (ii) Raising the awareness of stakeholders in Uzbekistan on the GHS, its relationship with SAICM and the potential benefits for sustainable development; (iii) Promote the implementation of international chemicals management treaties, such as the Basel Convention, the Montreal Protocol, focusing on the labeling of chemicals as an important component for the sound management of chemicals and the trade in chemicals; (iv) Preparation of the draft National Strategy for the Implementation of the GHS. The strategy will include analysis of the situation and sectorial (industry, agriculture, transport, trade) action plans; Development of Implementation Plan of National Strategy.

Description of actual services provided in the assignment:

• Development of an independent monitoring and evaluation methodology.
• Collection and analysis of available information in the field of chemical management, hazard classification and chemical labeling.
• Preparation of 2 objective reports: intermediate (on the progress of the project) and final on the findings and achieved results of the project, according to the requirements and forms developed by the SAICM Secretariat.

Independent monitoring includes the following:

• monitoring the implementation of the Project Implementation Plan.
• study and analysis of the opinions of stakeholders on the project and its implementation.
• an objective assessment of the work performed during the implementation of the project.
• Development of relevant recommendations and conclusions.

Project objectives completed, National Strategy for the Implementation of the GHS is approved. From 2019, experts and specialist will work on implementation of National Strategy.
