The first stage of the environmental impact assessment has been completed with a positive conclusion.

The experts of the State Environmental Expert Review conducted a thorough study of all components of the Bukhara Gas Chemical Complex project and the measures taken to manage the project’s environmental impact for a month before issuing their opinion.

The ITO Gas Chemical Complex project is a unique example of international cooperation in a region where environmental protection and sustainable development are important aspects. The positive conclusion of the first stage of environmental impact assessment by the Republican State Environmental Expertise confirms the company’s commitment to the rational use of natural resources and compliance with strict environmental norms and standards.

The environmental impact assessment process includes three stages, and MGO MCC has already received the first positive opinion. A decision on the second stage will be made after a more detailed review of the project at the detailed design stage, and the final review will take place before the complex is put into operation.

Mott Macdonald consultants, supported by Ekostandart Ekspert LLC, conducted their own assessment of the social and environmental impact of the project and confirmed its compliance with international standards, including the requirements of the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The assessment results also showed positive social effects through job creation and economic development of the region.

The MGO MCC project was recognized internationally and was awarded the ESG Breakthrough of the Year award for its integrated approach to sustainable development issues, including the environment, human rights, occupational safety and health, and social responsibility and citizens’ well-being.
