Design review and supervision services over the implementation of the project.

The Objective of the project “Modernization of Hydro Power Stations (Farkhad HPS and Niznhe-Bozsu Cascade of HPS-14)” is upgrading and modernization of hydropower stations with the replacement of worn-out equipment, ensuring the further reliable and efficient operation of the station in the power industry of Uzbekistan with a guaranteed water supply to aquiculture consumers, extending the lifetime of the equipment with the achievement of regulatory overhaul period of its work, increasing the capacity of stations, raising the annual generation of electric energy by optimum use of water runoff and increase in the efficiency of modernized hydraulic units. Modernization of the Farkhad HPS shall increase the capacity of the HPS up to 127 MW compared to the current working capacity of 114 MW, raise the average annual electricity generation up to 557.60 million kWh. Modernization of the HPS – 14 shall increase capacity of the HPS to 15 MW with annual electricity generation of 90.7 million kW/h.

Description of actual services provided in the assignment:

Consulting services for the First stage included assistance in the project implementation, carrying out of ICB(s) and contract procedures at the pre-construction stage, and supervision over construction at the construction stage:

  1. Review and approve the detailed design of the project.
  2. Using the presented technical part of the tender documentation, prepare full package of documentation in accordance with IDB standards and procedures.
  3. Assist in the procedural matters of evaluation of bidders’ proposals; prepare evaluation reports for the Tender Commission, assisting the Client in contract negotiations and award to the ECP Contractor(s).
